Piping Classes at Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair

Na Píobairí Uilleann is delighted to announce that we will be working in partnership with Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair this year to provide uilleann pipe workshops for the Winter School. NPU will be fostering the great tradition of piping in the area which is associated with An Píobaire Mór, Tarlach Mac Suibhne, who is buried in Gaoth Dobhair. There will be three levels of piping classes, with Conor Day providing an opportunity to “Try it out”, Síle Friel helping those at an intermediate stage in their playing, and Gay McKeon guiding the advanced players.

Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Daobhair will provide pipers with a great opportunity to improve their skills and enhance their tune repertoire. Pipers are recommended to register early for these classes.

As well as piping classes, Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair will be offering classes in a wide range of other instruments and cultural activities. All tutors for this event – chosen not just for the calibre of their playing and teaching, which is central to the success of the School, but also for their individual connections with the area and/or its music – are as follows:
