Na Píobairí Uilleann awarded Community Heritage Grant 2022

Na Píobairí Uilleann are delighted to announce the awarding of Community Heritage Grant 2022 from The Heritage Council of Ireland for our upcoming project “Video tutorial in making a hand-stitched leather bag for the Uilleann Pipes”.

This funding allows Na Píobairí Uilleann to produce a video tutorial on the craft of making a traditional hand-stitched leather bag for the uilleann pipes. It will also aid in the facilitation of a two day workshop in PipeCraft Training Centre on making a hand-stitiched leather bag as part of National Heritage Week 2022. It is intended that through this project the craft will be documented, preserved and encourage more people to engage with it.

Na Píobairí Uilleann would like to thank The Heritage Council of Ireland for their support in ensuring the preservation and sharing of the craft for future generations of bag makers in the uilleann piping communities.
