Sharing the Sound Campaign – USA

We are delighted to announce our 2015 Sharing the Sound – USA campaign which allows members and friends in the United States to contribute in a tax-effective manner to supporting NPU.

Our project to create the International Uilleann Piping Visitor Centre and Theatre on the site adjacent to our headquarters on Henrietta Street continues to gather steam.

When constructed, the landmark building at Number 16 on this historic street will restore the original 1740s streetscape. In tandem with the premises NPU has restored at Number 15, this project will create a truly world-class facility that members and friends of NPU everywhere can be truly proud of. It will include:

• A 120 seat Theatre
• A Permanent home for our PipeCraft training facility
• An Expanded Museum and Archive
• Additional teaching and practice space
• A state of the art Visitor Centre

We have an award-winning design for the building ready to go. It will help us meet ever-growing worldwide demand for everything related to the uilleann pipes, which we work to address under our four key strategic objectives of Access, Education, Performance, and Preservation. We have full planning approval in place, and an agreement with the Dublin City Council for our development and use of the building.

In addition to the International Uilleann Piping Visitor Centre, NPU also has lots of terrific on-going projects supporting uilleann pipers around the world including:

Brendan and Fiadh

Our PipeCraft Training Centre, where we’ve given hands-on training in the making of uilleann pipes to over 130 people – including 10 full-time trainees.

We have over 150 practice sets of pipes in circulation as part of our ever-expanding Pipes On Loan program, including to young pipers in Boston and Dallas.

Our website at pipers.ie and our Moving Cloud app contain over 3000 video clips, and a range of online tutorials for beginner, intermediate, and advanced pipers, and we are adding new material all the time.
