PIPECRAFT: Flat Pitched Reedmaking Course with Bill Haneman

Two-day, flat pitched reedmaking course with pipemaker Bill Haneman

This two day course for experienced reed makers will specialise in making reeds suitable for Egan, Taylor, and certain Matt Kiernan chanters. The course will include the rolling of reverse tapered staples from copper sheet, and forming and finishing narrow headed reeds with a tapered head, on relatively wide staple eyes, and fitting the resulting reeds to chanters.

This course is ideally suited to follow and supplement October’s flat pitched chanter making course and precede the accompanying voicing and tuning course. However the course is open to reed makers wishing to fit Taylor and Matt Kiernan chanters as well as early 20th century American-made chanters.

Places are limited, and preference will be given to those wishing to complete all 3 courses with Bill Haneman.
