August 18 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
As part of our celebration of National Heritage Week (16th – 24th August 2025), Na Píobairí Uilleann is offering a free uilleann pipes taster session, reedmaking workshop and short talk on the history of the uilleann pipes. This will be held on Monday 18th August from 4-6:30pm in NPU headquarters, 15 Henrietta St, Dublin 1.
Hosted by uilleann pipers Joe Byrne and Emmett Gill, individuals will have the opportunity to try out the instrument for themselves with the guidance and assistance of experienced players. Joe will also do a reed making demonstration, showing the unique hand crafting skills required to make the reeds that give the instrument its unique and captivating sound. There will also be a short talk on the history of the uilleann pipes from NPU archivist Emmett.
