Instrument Making Course at BCFE

Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) is pleased to announce that the college will be offering an instrument making strand to run in conjunction with the college’s existing Higher National Diploma in Irish Traditional Music performance programme (Ceoltóir).

The instrument making stand will be run in co-operation with Na Píobairí Uilleann and will commence as a 1 year pilot project in September 2017.

The pilot programme will have 3 strands, uilleann pipe making, flute making and whistle making and students will be limited to 6 students per strand. The flute and whistle strands will be taught by the renowed flutemaker Hammy Hamilton and tuition for the pipemaking classes will be taught by Na Píobairí Uilleann. All instrument making classes will be taught in Na Píobairí Uilleann’s PipeCraft Training Centre.

Applications to the Ceoltóir programme and to the instrument making strand can be made through the college website www.bcfe.ie. If applying for the instrument making strand please put ‘Instrument Making’ along with your preferred instrument in the ‘Course Title’ section of the application form.
