Classes start each hour from 5pm to 8pm. NPU RECITALS: Held in The Cobblestone on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30pm January 7th – Conal Duffy (pipes), Catherine McEvoy (fiddle), Edel McWeeney (fiddle) and Johnny Moynihan (songs) February 4th – Leonard Barry (pipes), Conor Byrne (flute), Ciarán Mac Aodhagán (fiddle) and Vincent Doherty (songs) March 4th – Peter Browne (pipes), Noel Hill (concertina), Toner Quinn (fid- dle) and Malachy Bourke (fiddle) NOTES & NARRATIVES: Held in Henrietta St. on the 2nd/3rd Friday of each month at 8:30pm. December 13th – Seán Mac Philbín : Fingal and its Mummers January 17th – Mick Brown : Inside Out: Reflections on the South West Donegal Tra- dition & Beyond February 21st – Professor Fergus Kelly : Early Irish Music – An Overview of the Linguistic and Documentary Evidence LEO ROWSOME COMMEMORATIVE EVENT: Held annually on the last Saturday in Febru- ary. The 2014 event will take place on the 22nd of February. NPU TIONÓL: Held annually on the weekend before the last Monday of May, in 2014 the weekend of May 23rd to 25th, in Listowel, co. Kerry. ADVANCED REED-MAKING CLASSES: Classes are held each summer. SCOIL SAMHRAIDH WILLIE CLANCY: Held annually on the first full calendar week in July. It always starts on the first Saturday of July, the 5th of July in 2014. ACE & DEUCE OF PIPING CONCERT: Held annually on the first weekend in October, the 2013 concert will take place on Saturday October 5th. See page 10 for details. INTERNATIONAL UILLEANN PIPING DAY: Now an annual event, next year’s global day of uilleann piping will take place on Saturday 18th of October. BREANDÁN BREATHNACH COMMEMORATION: Held annually on the first Saturday of De- cember. The 2014 event will take place on Saturday, December 6th. T HE POPULAR EVENING RTÉ PROGRAMME Na- tionwide has had a recent makeover, in- cluding a new theme tune, which includes the sound of the uilleann pipes. Nationwide Bagpipe Conference T HE SECOND International Bagpipe Conference will take place in central London on Saturday 8 March 2014, in the premises of the Institute of Musical Research, in Malet Street. The one-day conference will be hosted by the In- stitute of Musical Research and the School of Ori- ental and African Studies. They aim to establish a productive and welcom- ing platform for all people interested in the study of bagpipes: academics, music experts, instrument makers, folk musicians, dancers and music lovers.
