9 4 16 20130930 This picture was brought to our attention by Jim Lucey. It is a detail of a photograph which can be found on the FLICKR website at http://www.flickr.com/photos/chethams_library The image is one of two, taken at the same location and showing the same piper, that can be accessed at this website, included in a collection called “The Galway Album”. This collection is located at Chetham’s Library, in Manchester. The library has no details regarding the provenance of “The Galway Album”, and would welcome any information that would throw any light upon the location shown in the photographs, or the identities of the people. It has been established that the location is at Glendalough, near Recess, co. Galway, but the sugges- tion that the piper might be “the Wicklow Piper” Patrick Toomey seems unlikely to be correct.
