8 5 4 20121206 4 T HE FAMILY OF ITALIAN NPU MEMBER LAN- FRANCO PIERACCINI has donated a full set of Charles Roberts pipes to Na Píobairí Uil- leann. An obituary for Lanfranco may be found later in this issue, and NPU is very grateful to his family for this generous dona- tion. Victor Edmonds has donated a copy of his re- cently-published work The Greystones Band – A History of the Greystones Co. Wicklow Scout Pipe Band, which contains a section on the band’s tutor, uilleann piper Billy Andrews. ~ DONATIONS & ACQUISITIONS ~ A book illustration by Erskine Nicol, showing a set of pas- toral pipes, was carried in An Píobaire 4.35. At that time we had just the A5 size illustration reproduced in a 1909 publica- tion. An original coloured print of the picture came up at auction recently and was ac- quired. Also acquired at auction were the first nineteen years (up to 2004) of the journal Eighteenth- Century Ireland / Iris an dá chultúr, which contains much material relevant to the study of the formative period in the his- tory of Irish music. We plan to complete the run of this journal as the opportunity arises. Na Píobairí Uilleann has reciprocal arrangements with several other piping and musical bodies to exchange publi- cations. Complete or near-complete runs of many of these publications are available to members in our library.
