Píobaire, An 8 4 7 20120927 7 REGULAR EVENTS WITH NA PÍOBAIRÍ UILLEANN WEEKLY NPU PIPING & REED-MAKING CLASSES: Held weekly during the months Sep- tember to May on Tuesday nights. Classes start each hour from 5pm to 8pm. NPU RECITALS: Held on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30pm Oct 2nd – Kevin Rowsome (pipes), Steve Larkin (fiddle), Charlie Piggott (melodeon) and Seán Ó Broin (flute) Nov 6th – Éanna Ó Cróinín (pipes), Liam Lewis (fiddle), Claire Keville (con- certina) and Patricia Flynn (songs) Dec 4th – Seán McKeon (pipes), Liam O’Connor (fiddle), Éamonn de Barra (flute) and Dermot Burke (fiddle) NOTES & NARRATIVES: Held on the third Friday of each month at 8:30pm. Oct 19th – Conal Ó Gráda : Critical Listening Nov 16th – Len Graham : Recollections of Singers and songs from the Ulster Tradition’ Dec 21st – Jerry O’Reilly : Early classic ballads in the Irish song tradition LEO ROWSOME COMMEMORATIVE EVENT: Held annually on the last Saturday in February. The 2013 event will take place on the 23rd of February. NPU TIONÓL: Held annually on the weekend before the last Monday of May, in 2013 the weekend of May 24th to 26th. PIPING AND REED-MAKING MASTERCLASSES: Week-long classes are held each summer. Dates for 2013 to be announced. SCOIL SAMHRAIDH WILLIE CLANCY: Held annually on the first full calendar week in July. It always starts on the first Saturday of July, the 6th of July in 2013. ACE & DEUCE OF PIPING CONCERT: Held annually on the first weekend in October, the 2012 concert will take place on Sunday October 7th. INTERNATIONAL UILLEANN PIPING DAY: Now an annual event, this year’s global day of uilleann piping will take place on Saturday 20 October. BREANDÁN BREATHNACH COMMEMORATION: Held annually on the first Saturday of De- cember. The 2012 event will take place on Saturday, December 1st. Pipemaking Film Clips I N 2008 AND 2009, thanks to funding from The Arts Council, Na Píobairí Uilleann filmed the working methods of four master pipe makers around the world, Cillian Ó Bri- ain, David Quinn, Geoff Wooff and Andreas Rogge. The result was many hours of footage covering various aspects of making the instru- ment. Members may be aware that some of the material uploaded was still under review and appearing as “restricted” on the SOURCE website, but we are pleased to say that a considerable tranche has now been reviewed and is available for viewing by all members. We are continuing to review the material and will release the remainder in due course. In addition to the film clips themselves, we have established a Blog, moderated by Bill Haneman.
