Píobaire, An 8 4 6 20120927 6 IMCO T HE FIRST VOLUME of Stanford’s Complete Petrie Collection of Ancient Irish Music, con- sisting of 500 airs, has been added to our Irish Music Collections Online (IMCO) website re- source at www.pipers.ie/IMCO Prepared from George Petrie’s papers after his death, the collection was edited by Charles V. Stanford who was really not competent to under- take the work. Nevertheless, the collection has been a valuable reference for the last century. Anna Busby R.I.P. P IPER ANNA BUSBY, wife of the late Tom Busby and niece of Michael Carney, has died in NewYork in the presence of her family on the 25th July. She was 94 years old. We were advised of the death by Dónal McKiernan, shown with Anna in the photgraph below which was taken during a visit in 2010. Dónal is a great-grandson of Tom Busby’s sister. TIONÓL 2013 N EXT year’s Tionól will take place again in Lis- towel, co. Kerry on the weekend of May 24- 26. All activities will take place in the Listowel Arms Hotel, which proved a very successful venue for this year’s tionól. Come West along the Road: Series 15 & DVD 4 A NEW WEEKLY SERIES of Come West along the Road, the Irish national broadcaster’s long-running archival television series of Irish traditional music, began transmission on RTÉ 1 at 7.30 pm on Friday 14 September 2012. As always, uilleann pipers are well represented, among them John McSherry, Seán Potts, Rob- bie Hannan, and Jimmy O’Brien Moran. Each programme is also available for online viewing internationally for three weeks after transmis- sion on the RTÉ Player at www.rte.ie. The series is researched, compiled and pre- sented by Nicholas Carolan of the Irish Tradi- tional Music Archive, who has also produced a new fourth Come West along the Road DVD of music, song and dance selections of highlights from previous series. Uilleann pipers appearing are Néillidh Mulligan, Máire Ní Ghráda, Micheal O’Brien, Liam O’Flynn, Joe McLaughlin in duet, Brian McNamara in trio, and Paddy Keenan solo and with the Bothy Band. The DVD contains over three and a half hours of footage on 65 tracks, and will be pub- lished by RTÉ in early October.
