8 1 28 20120206 28 Chris Walker ~ REPORTS ~ SOUTH DOWNS UILLEANN PIPERS T HE FIRST MEETING of the South Downs Uilleann Pipers [SDUP] took place on Saturday the 7th of January 2012 at The Maypole Inn, Yapton, West Sussex, UK. Ten people attended from as far afield as Gillingham in Kent to the East, London to the North, and Portsmouth to the West. It proved to be huge fun – a great day of tunes, talk and ex- amining everybody’s pipes. The Pipers Chair was occupied by at least half the group and a real strength demonstrated in the playing. Aimed at players of all standards from the South and South-East of England, we plan to meet every first Saturday in the month. Our next meeting will be on the 4th of Febru- ary. Can’t wait…!
