Píobaire, An 7 4 28 20110920 28 ~ CORRESPONDENCE ~ APPEAL LIAM HACKETT WRITES – I want to raise money for our leprosarium in Tanzania by selling copies of the sketch I sent ye. Do ye think ye could publish it and the ap- peal in An Piobaire. It would be great help to our lepers. I am selling copies of a sketch of me playing in Regents Park London in 1992. They will be signed by me and limited to 1000 copies. The price is £5 + postage package. A copy of the Sketch is held in the archives of NPU. This is an opportunity to gain a rare print from the last century . All proceeds will go to The Military and Hos- pitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem, The Grand Priory of Great Britain. The money will go to help our charity which is the leprosarium in Ruvuma Region Tanzania. Email me at haicead@aol.com. Paypal or cheques ac- cepted. The story behind the sketch is that I was living at Regents Park at the time and most days I would go into the park to practice the pipes. I became quite a common sight there in the heart of London and many a tourist learned first- hand what instrument I was playing and went home with a photograph. One day in 1992 an artist sketched me unknown to me and then presented me with the drawing. Another artist Valery Gridnev RA, drew sketches of me in oils in preparation for a painting for the Royal Acadamy. He had just come back from Ireland and couldn't find a piper anywhere. He found one on his doorstep in Regents Park. The Regents Park Piper
