7 2 18 20110510 18 ~ From the Archive ~ NEW TUNES BY LEO RICKARD L EO RICKARD’S new CD Up Down & Around (see page 8 for details), was launched at an enjoyable reception in Dublin in late March. With his permission, we are carrying two tunes from the album which are newly composed by Leo – “Planxty Brigid Maxwell” and “The Maid of Bearna Lodge”. The tunes are named for two ladies whose identities are revealed in the liner notes. We can’t give everything away, but we can reveal that the pet dog, whose con- versation is a feature of the second tune, is named Benji. Planxty Brigid Maxwell “Benji”
