This initiative recognises the central importance of the arts sector to Ireland’s continued recovery. NPU has been selected as one of the eight arts organisa- tions for the RAISE Pilot by the Arts Council. We have been chosen from fifty-four eligible applicants to receive funding, consulting and in-kind services to the value of €100,000. With these funds NPU will be equipped to boost its own individual fundraising functions with the aim of raising an additional €250,000 per annum in private investment as a re- sult. This is good news for the organisation and great news for Uilleann Pipers in Ireland and abroad. Speaking after the announcement NPU CEO Gay McKeon said “We have a wealth of very skilled and talented artists in our country and with this funding we can now hire a Head of Development to attract philanthropic support and investment to the country. This senior position is comparable to those within state and private businesses. We hope to attract people who have a passion for our work with relevant experience in fundraising, marketing and management”.
