7 5 8 20111214 8 N OVEMBER 7TH saw the beginning of the first 6 week course at PIPECRAFT, our training centre. Though not the first course to be run at the centre, it is the first in Na Píobairí Uilleann’s planned intensive pipemaking courses further extending the range of classes available to- wards that ultimate goal of as- sisting in the future of pipemaking in Ireland and across the world. Stretching over a six week period it is de- signed to introduce the 12 par- ticipants to the art of pipemaking and each of the twelve will have covered the various stages of producing a working chanter on completing the course. The course is being delivered by local pipemaker Bill Haneman from Fingal and towards the end of the course Bill will be joined by well known Kerry-based pipemaker Cillian Ó Briain. Cil- lian and Bill are both active pipemakers with their own very busy schedules and it is thanks to their enthusiasm and gen- erosity in kindly making time for us, together with the much appreciated fund raising efforts of all in NPU, that we have been able to provide this course. ~ Training Course at PIPECRAFT ~ L to R , Peter Troake, Stuart White, Chris Barry, Jack Dempsey, Niall Kelleher, Danniella Ferretti, Bill Haneman, Damian McCaskey, Hugh Bassett and Conor Roche-Lancaster.
