Entitled Aria di Camera, it was published in London in 1727. It is described as a collection of “Scotch, Irish and Welsh Airs”, and a third or more of the airs are Irish, including sev- eral compositions of Carolan and other harpers. The name of the collection means, simply, “chamber music”, which is a fair indicator of the fact that at the time there was no concept of ‘folk’ or ‘traditional’ music. The idea of ‘na- tional music’ had emerged, and is reflected in the sub-title. A couple of tunes from the collection can be found on pages 18-19. The IMCO collections can be accessed at: www.pipers.ie/IMCO REGULAR EVENTS WITH NA PÍOBAIRÍ UILLEANN WEEKLY NPU PIPING & REED-MAKING CLASSES: Held weekly during the months Sep- tember to May on Tuesday nights.
