The fingering chart for the Bag Pipe included in Gehot’s Treatise, as well as the instructions for tuning the drones, were copied fron Ge- oghegan’s Compleat Tutor for the Pastoral or New Bagpipe which had been published 43 years before, but which, by 1786, obviously re- mained the only tutor available for the instru- ment. Gehot’s inclusion of instructions for the pas- toral pipes in his Treatise is an indicator of the continuing currency of the instrument during the late 18th century.
