27offers two options – Search and Browse. Thesimplest of these is the Browse option. Sel-ecting this returns to the screen a list of the‘Sources’ included in the system (see ill. 2). Ifthe user clicks on one of these they are shownthe further options – the actual content in thecase of a single-item source or, as in the caseof the two sources already live, the variousvolumes that are online. These can be select-ed in turn. In the case of Ceol na hÉireann theuser is brought directly to the content; for AnPíobaire there is a further choice, of theissues within each volume. Selection of oneof these brings the user to the actual content.Once a page has been selected it appearsonscreen in PDF format. Navigation function-ality allows the user to browse forwards orbackwards from the initially selected page, orto jump to any numbered page within thesource being used. (see ill. 3)The Search facility will undoubtedly proveof most use to members in the long-term.This allows the user to enter a search term (aword or string of words) and search for theiroccurrence within the OL. The user maydecide to search just one Source or all of theavailable Sources. Illustration 5 (see nextpage) shows the screen returned after search-ing for the search term “Colclough” with “allsources” selected. Three “hits” are returned,which the user can select to see the actualcontent.
