PIPECRAFT: Composite Drone Reedmaking Course with Bill Haneman

Two-day composite drone reedmaking course with pipemaker and reedmaker Bill Haneman.

Join renowned pipemaker and reedmaker Bill Haneman for an immersive two-day workshop focused on crafting and adjusting composite drone reeds for the uilleann pipes.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in creating and fine-tuning composite drone quills, such as those featuring hardwood bodies and spruce tongues. For attendees with prior engineering lathe experience, there will be an opportunity to craft a drone body during the course. All students will receive practical instruction on applying, adjusting, and replacing composite drone tongues, alongside a comprehensive discussion of the underlying principles of drone reed design and adjustment.

This course is suitable for people with some previous experience in reedmaking.

All tools and materials necessary for the course will be provided. This workshop is open to participants aged 16 and over.

Date: Saturday 29th March – Sunday 30th March 2025 (2 days course).
