It playedin 18 different venues throughout Ireland, andin many cases brought a knowledge of thehistory, styles and personalities of uilleannpiping to new audiences. The presenters were Sean Donnelly (picturedbelow) and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, withsupport from a rotating panel of pipers. JohnBlake played a support role in logistics and assound engineer. NPU are grateful to all whocontributed to the success of the event, including Temple Bar Cultural Trust for sup-porting the initiative. Review of An PíobaireAN PÍOBAIRE has appeared in its currentformat for many years, and we are plan-ning a re-design of the magazine. All aspectsof the publication are under consideration, including size, layout and content. We would welcome members’ input into thisprocess. If any member has any views on thematter please communicate them to TerryMoylan at terry@pipers.ie.Sean Donnelly making a point about Patsy Touhey during the PIPERLINK show in Belmulletlikes of Séamus Ennis, Johnny Doran, LiamO’Flynn, Paddy Keenan and Willie Clancy astheir counterparts here in Ireland. It is alsoworth noting that some of the most respectedof today’s pipe-makers are based overseasand that the fact that they are not located inIreland is clearly no detriment to their busi-ness needs. The series of recitals, which we have beenrunning for some time now in TheCobblestone in Dublin's Smithfield, has beena huge success resulting in some truly memo-rable concerts. Visitors to Dublin are some-times frustrated at the relative lack of highquality traditional music recitals and there isno doubt that all lovers of traditional musichave warmly received these recitals. As wellas highlighting established performers, therecitals also give listeners an opportunity tohear young accomplished players who havecome through our classes and who are alreadyshowing signs of becoming leading pipers.Details of these recitals can be found on ourwebsite at www.pipers.ie/home/Resources_DownloadVideos.htm and are a very worth-while resource for student pipers. In conclusion, I would like to wish all of youand your families a happy and peacefulChristmas and all best wishes for the comingyear.Robbie Hannan4– continued from page 3We have received several donationsof CDs for our library, the donorsincluding Comhaltas CeoltóiríÉireann, Thomas Kannmacher, Robert VanDijk, Martin Donohoe and Paul Smyth. We purchased several very useful referenceworks – Walter George Strickland’s ADictionary of Irish Artists, Alan J.
