A COPY of their recently-published Tunes of the Munster Pipers, Vol. 2 has been donated by the Irish Traditional Music Archive, and Martin Gallen has donated a copy of Reedmaking, his new manual for that essentiall skill. Alan Wade has donated a DVD copy of a filmed interview of his father, the piper Sammy Wade, interviewed by Len Graham; and a DVD copy of An Píobaire Mór – a film about Tarlach Mac Suibhne has been received from An Comharchumann Forbartha Ghaoth Dobhair. Other acquisitions to our library have included copies of three music manuscripts of the collector Patrick Weston Joyce. Two of these contain the material (878 items) upon which he planned to base a further publication, a project that he had not completed at the time of his death. These are part of the collection of the National Library of Ireland, who collaborated with the Irish Traditional Music Archive to make them available in digital form at the latter’s website. Purchases have included a copy of The Book of Brennan, which consists of facsimile reproductions of the workshop notes of the Irish-American pipemaker James Brennan, and also a copy of the Bulletin of the Brussels Museum of Musical Instruments (Volume VI–1/2–1976) which includes Breandán Breathnach’s article “The Irish Pipes”. Na Píobairí Uilleann has reciprocal arrangements with several other piping and musical bodies to exchange publications, and we also subscribe to relevant periodicals. Complete or near-complete runs of many of these publications are available to members in our library.
