JOE MC KENNA ~ 10:30pm ~ INFORMAL PIPING SESSION NEW MUSIC PROJECT P IPER MICK O’BRIEN will be one of the artists involved in the recording of an album of newly-composed music this year. The music was composed by Dave Flynn, author of the five-part series on ‘The Uilleann Pipes in Con- temporary Concert Music’ which was pub- lished last year in An Píobaire. Other performers will include singer Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich, the Con Tempo Quartet and the String Quartet of the Clare Memory Orchestra. Dave Flynn is raising the cost of this project through Fundit.ie, and contributions can be made at www.fundit.ie/pro- ject/the-string-quartet-music-of-dave-flynn ~ NEWS & EVENTS ~ A MUSICAL VISION D UE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING the notice of this recording in the last issue of An Píobaire described the musicians who play on it as children. In fact they are all mature, expe- rienced musicians who are regularly involved in traditional music performance. The common factor between them is that they are all partially or fully un-sighted, and most of them started their music education with Cather- ine McEvoy or Mary MacNamara at St. Joe- sph’s School for the Blind, now CHILDVISION.
