8 3 23 20120622 23 THE DOWNFALL OF PARIS N OLLAIG MAC CÁRTHAIGH found the image on page 22 on the streets of Paris during a recent visit and, naturally, was reminded im- mediately of several tunes, including “The Rights of Man” and the one presented here – “The Downfall of Paris”. The setting here is O’Neill’s, taken from his Dance Music of Ireland (Chicago, 1907), num- ber 957. Readers are invited to submit photographs de- picting the title of an Irish tune.
