Píobaire, An 8 1 4 20120206 4 A NUMBER OF chanters made by the late Eu- gene Frain of Watertown, Massachusetts, have been given to NPU by Benedict Koehler on behalf of Eugene’s estate. The chanters were donated by Eugene’s sister Kaye O’Brien. Over two hundred issues of the Scottish mag- azine The Piping Times have been donated by Len Wood, in memory of his wife Kathleen Shappee Wood. These are available for conul- tation in our library. Jacinta McEvoy has donated a copy of her pro- duction, the DVD Dancin’ Time, an Irish and Folk Dance Resource Pack for Primary Teach- ers; and a copy of a TV programme on the uil- leann pipes, entitled An Ribheid Chiùil, which was shown recently on the station BBC Alba, was donated by the production company. The image at right of piper and clown Johnny Patterson was forwarded by Rosemary King, courtesy of the Allen Library; and Jim McGuire has donated four rare LP recordings featuring pipers Mícheál Ó Riabhaigh, Jack Wade, Al Purcell and Bill Ochs. Na Píobairí Uilleann has reciprocal arrangements with several other piping and musical bodies to exchange pub- lications. Complete or near-complete runs of many of these publications are available to members in our library. ~ DONATIONS & ACQUISITIONS ~ events. The pipers’ reed making workshop will be a three day event with Jim Wenham and I taking the classes. We are all looking forward to giving intensive tuition and enjoying the best of music among friends. THE NPU ANNUAL TIONÓL This will be held in the Listowel Arms Hotel , Listowel, County Kerry from May 25th to 27th 2012. The programme of events include many of the Kerry pipers and pipemakers and vist- ing reedmaking experts Ted Anderson and Benedict Koehler from the USA. Bookings for this event can be made through the NPU office. Finally, congratulations to our admin. assistant Sandie Purcell and to her partner Andy on the recent birth of their daughter Shonagh.
