It is fitting to again record our deep appreciation of the work done by Dublin City Council (DCC) and kind assistance given by the con- servation, planning and de- velopment departments in advancing the project to its present status. SOME EVENTS TO NOTE T HE recent Howard Summer school in Cum- bria (ended 2nd July) incorporated a trip to MORPETH BAGPIPE MUSEUM, and those who have seen this museum have always expressed their appreciation of its importance as a means of pro- moting knowledge of piping in regard to instru- ment history and quality of craftsmanship in times gone by. These aspects of piping when vis- ible, serve to highlight the necessity for intensi- fying our efforts at developing the fullest understanding of best practice in the ancient and modern art and craft of pipemaking.
