They include Stanford’s edition of The Complete Petrie Collection of Ancient Irish Music, Richard Henebry’s Handbook of Irish Music, Redfern Mason’s Song Lore of Ireland, Duffy’s Poets and Poetry of Munster and the Young Ireland collection The Spirit of the Nation. These can be searched and browsed through our existing site and also through our new content portal SOURCE. FRANKIE KENNEDY WINTER SCHOOL T his year’s school takes place in and around Gweedore, co. Donegal, from December 27th until January 2nd. As usual, a wide range of classes, workshops, sessions and concerts are scheduled. A feature of par- ticular interest to pipers this year will be the Tuesday afternoon lecture by Caoimhín Mac Aoidh on the topic of “Tarlach Mac Suibhne – An Píobaire Mór”. There will also be an exploration of the uil- leann pipes and their part in traditional Irish Music (past and present) in Donegal, illustrat- ed with piping contributions from Gay McKeon, Mick O’Brien, Ciarán Mac Fheilimidh and Doiminic Mac Giolla Bhríde, and on the fiddle by Ciarán Ó Maonaigh. Gay McKeon will also teach a piping workshop during the school. Carlow. A full programme of events is being planned. WEST COAST TIONOL T he 2011 Tionól of the San Francisco Pipers’ Club will take place from the 18th to the 20th February, with Tiarnan Ó Duinchinn and Eamonn Curran as guest pipers.
