4FELIX DORANIn this number we commemorate the memory of Felix Doran by presenting some trans-criptions of his musk by Pat Mitchell. Felix and his brother Johnny represented atime of pipers which extended through their greatgrandfa her, John Cish, and histeacher Handrahan from Tipperary, back into the first half of the last century. Itwas John Cash, Cash the Piper, who introduced the first Rowesomes to piping. Instyle the Doran piping is more carefree than say Touheys, exuberant in the use ofsome forms of ornamentation (rolling), in lifting the chanter off the knee. Theabsence of crcinning is likewise a feature. Felix was particularly proud of the allsilver set of pipes which a German musical engineer made for him and it is on thesepipes the music NPU has was played.
