Notes & Narratives – Nick Whitmer: The Rise & Fall of Piping in America, 1870-1940
May 19 @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm
€10
Nick Whitmer’s presentation will explore the period between the 1870s and the 1930s when there was a mini-golden age of uilleann piping activity in the United States. For a time there were an unusual number of players and a few instrument and reed makers to support them. Performance standards were high. By 1940 interest had withered away and only a few diehards remained. The presentation will look at this rise and fall, with lots of images and a surprise or two.
The talk will take place in 15 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1 and will start at 8:30pm on Thursday 19th May 2022. Admission is €10 (concession rate €5). Tickets are available through Eventbrite or contact the office at info@pipers.ie or by phone +353-1-8730093. For those unable to attend in person, it will also be live streamed for free through our channel NPU-TV.
