Culture Night Henrietta Street and Grangegorman

Dublin’s North Inner City is thriving and for this year’s Culture Night, cultural organisations and buildings in Henrietta Street and Grangegorman are joining forces. Join us for free events as part of the annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts.

On the 20th of September, there will be loads of free things to do all a short walk from the Broadstone Luas stop, 1 4 Henrietta Street , the King’s Inns, Registry of Deeds, Grangegorman Development Agency, and Na Píobairí Uilleann will all be open to the public for a series of free events.

Beside the Luas stop, the Grangegorman campus is hosting a jam-packed programme of activities through ‘…the lives we live’ Grangegorman Public Art programme. From 4pm – 8pm there will be exhibition tours, demonstrations, display, performance, short film screenings and the launch of the Crocosmia × project.

A stroll over the road and through the King’s Inn park will bring you to the Registry of Deeds, where from 5-9pm you can drop into a calligraphy workshop and learn 18th Century Round Hand using sample text from archival documents. You can also learn about the type of equipment and working conditions which Registry of Deeds staff experienced in the 1700s.

Next door, the King’s Inns is Ireland’s Oldest School of Law, founded in 1541. Here you can take a peek inside a key example of Ireland’s Georgian architectural heritage on a guided tour of the James Gandon designed Dining Hall, completed in 1806. Tours will be running
from 5-9pm and booking is required.

Down the road at 14 Henrietta Street, you can catch a unique live music and film screening of ‘Float Down the Liffey’ presented by DabbledooMusic and 14 Henrietta Street ; a musical journey through Dublin’s venues and streets at night with an accompanying live electronica score of brass, percussion and organs. There are two performances at 6pm and 7.45pm.

Next door, between 6 and 10pm Na Píobairí Uilleann (the society of Irish pipers) invite you to a guided tour of their Georgian building, located on one of Ireland’s most architecturally important streets. The tour will include a visit to the library and archive and will also feature musical performances from leading uilleann pipers.
